Last week, Spotify made hundreds of BBC podcasts available to subscribers. Listeners in the UK will now have access to a plethora of BBC content from iPlayer Radio and BBC Sounds, including the Desert Island Discs series, Brian Cox and Robin Ince’s Infinite Monkey Cag and Josie Long’s Short Cuts.
Spotify is rapidly evolving from music to non-music to cater to the growing number of listeners who subscribe to podcasts and other forms of digital audio. Spotify’s Head of Podcast Partnerships James Cator said, “The BBC is one of the largest content creators in the UK and have worked with the biggest and best audio talent in the world.” With such a popular selection of podcasts now accessible through Spotify’s audio library, listeners can “be assured of finding the perfect podcast for every moment and mood on Spotify,” says James.
